Since my last blog post Argus: My personal AI assistant powered by Hermes Agent, I’ve learned a lot about Hermes and changed how I use it. In this blog post, I want to share my workflow.

My Hermes Agent runs on a Hetzner VPS, but I interact with the same agent from Discord, Telegram, my MacBook, and my Windows PC. Tailscale connects my MacBook and Windows PC, so I don’t need to expose the Hermes remote backend to the internet.

Argus: My personal AI assistant powered by Hermes Agent

Like many folks these days I’m using AI at work and outside of work to help me with various tasks. Some recent uses include: coding, creating policy and process documents for the charity I volunteer at, troubleshooting technical issues and many more. The applications I’ve used so far being Claude Code, Codex, Claude Desktop and Cursor.

Using all these tools had recently got me thinking:

How could I use AI to help improve my day to day habits?

Could I use AI to provide me some actual quality of life improvements?

Late last year (~November 2025) OpenClaw took the tech world by storm. If you’re not aware OpenClaw is a free, open source (MIT Licensed) AI personal assistant which uses chat platforms like Telegram, WhatsApp and others to communicate with it. You can integrate it with various services, for example your Google account so it can read your emails, and respond to them on your behalf.
